The Sock Project

In 2004-2005 I crocheted over 300 socks (aka cock socks) that became an installation called "The Sock Project" and showed throughout the Portland area.

Artist Statement

The Sock Project is about:

My reaction to the male body image and size stigma.

Being a 28 year old woman, a wife and a sister to four brothers.

Being Domestic and Sexual.

Being brought up in a religion where I was taught to be ashamed of my body.

My fears and reluctance associated with the possibility of eventually becoming a mother.

My biological clock and my instinct to be nurturing.

The Sock Project was also in a Wearable Arts Fashion show and Art show in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada in September-October 2005
