I contributed to "The Women's History Deck" which was shown at In Other Words bookstore in January 2005, The Pacific Northwest College of Art in February 2005 and Tribe Gallery in March 2005.

About the project:
The Women's History Deck is a deck of playing cards honoring Women in History. Each card in the deck is made by a different Artist and each honors a different important woman in history.

The card I made is a collage that honors Lillian Smith: writer and humanitarian. Lillian Smith wrote a lot about the evils of racism at a time when a lot of people didn't want to hear it from anyone, much less a woman. She helped dismantle southern racist traditions, customs and beliefs through her work. In 1944 her first novel "Strange Fruit" was banned in Boston and Detroit but still managed to sell three million copies and was translated into sixteen languages.
